Bob Dole Hospitalized

Former Senate Republican leader and 1996 GOP presidential candidate Bob Dole has been hospitalized, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said on Tuesday.

“He is at Walter Reed not for a checkup,” Reid said. “He is there because he is infirm. He is sick.”

But an aide to Dole said he was undergoing a “routine procedure.”

Dole, 90, has been hospitalized a number of times of the past couple of years. He was seriously wounded in Italy in World War II and then spent more than three years in the hospital.
