Bob Grant, Legendary New York Talk Radio Pioneer, Dead At 84

bob-grantBob Grant, whose familiar voice boomed over the radio airwaves for more than 50 years, died today. He was 84.

Grant, born Robert Ciro Gigante, first broke into the radio biz in the 1940s and scored gigs at major radio stations around the country before he got his big break when he moved to New York City in the ‘70s and began working for WMCA. He went on to be the afternoon host for WABC.

After WABC, Grant made his way over to WOR and eventually turned to doing Internet broadcasts in his later years.

Grant was known for his unscripted broadcasts and his conservative viewpoints, never shying away from sharing his thoughts on the U.S. military and Israel. Fox News

  1. May he rest in peace. His support for Jews and the state of Israel did not waver. There are very few journalists in this age that are not afraid to say the truth (even if they identify with it)-he was one of them.

  2. Mainelli, I really Really REALLY got to get out of here! ! ! 🙂

RIP Bob. A talk radio legend.

How right you were: It’s certainly sick out there and getting sicker
You were often imitated but never duplicated.
Today’s chevrah are just republican party people.
Bob actually was independent. He though on his own. With Rush & Sean it is so predictable.
    Just my opinion.

  3. He has a lot of zechusim. He pioneered the whole conservative radio thing, which contains so many values and moral ethics compared to any thing else out there.

  4. Friendly toward Jews and Israel. He was actually on for over 60 years! There was a 60th celebration some time ago!
“Mario, tuzay pruvnio sfaacheem! And he is!”
    And “Mario free in 93!”
How about “Stop on the dime!” when the GSP went up in price!
    He was so anti SharpySharpton!
Oh, and remember “Jimmy – I’ll never lie to you – Carter?
