Washington’s next act in the shutdown spectacle: John Boehner defends himself. “I didn’t come here to shut down the government. I certainly didn’t come here to default on our debt,” the House Speaker told Congress Tuesday afternoon.
Taking aim at Obama after the president called the GOP “irresponsible,” Boehner said he was “disappointed” at the White House’s failure to negotiate. “We can’t raise the debt ceiling without doing something about what’s driving us to borrow more money,” he said.

“Boehner: Its Not My Fault”
He said just one word to much. Saying “Its My Fault” would at least be true.
It is his fault. Entirely his fault. He won’t allow a vote on the clean continuing resolution that the Senate passed.
