Boehner: Not Enough Votes for ‘Clean’ Bill

boehnerIt’s time for Congress to hurry up and…keep on waiting.

House Speaker John Boehner said in an interview that aired Sunday that a clean spending bill still doesn’t have enough votes to clear the House.

Although the Senate and the president have both said they will not accept a bill that restricts the Affordable Care Act, it seems House Republicans still aren’t budging.

“We voted to keep the government open,” said Boehner. “Providing fairness to the American people, under Obamacare, is all we’re asking for.”

Democrats, for their part, aren’t buying Boehner’s claim: nearly every House Democrat, plus at least 21 Republicans, have reportedly already signaled a willingness to vote for a clean bill.

Come on, kids. Play nice.
