Boeing announced plans to replace Air Force One with its latest version of the jumbo jet, 747-8, the U.S. Air Force said Wednesday. The White House is trading in the current model, a Boeing VC-25, for a version that can be refueled in midair as well as serve as a command center.

But President Barack Obama will not be the first leader of the free world to christen the newer jet.

The first ride will not be delivered until 2018 and must undergo five years of testing before it’s fit for a president.

Boeing has been the only aircraft provider for American Presidents since 1962. Read more at the U.S. Air Force.
