Matzav.com has learned that Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin has been released from solitary confinement at the Linn County Correctional Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The move came just minutes before the onset of Shabbos, allowing Sholom Mordechai to spend the Yom Menuchah in the more peaceful environment of his regular cell.

The decision was made by Mr. Michael J. Carr, a head official at the Linn County Correctional Center, who reviewed the case, including video footage, and determined that Sholom Mordechai deserved to be released.

The Jewish community is thankful to Mr. Carr for his act of kindness and justice, and specifically for releasing Sholom Mordechai in time for the Jewish day of rest.

Noteworthy is the fact that the prison administration has shown a great deal of sensitivity to Sholom Mordechai’s various religious needs.

Please continue to daven for Reb Shalom Mordechai ben Rivkah.

Significant funds must still be raised for the legal defense. Anyone who can help out and lend support should take a moment to send a donation to the Pidyon Shvuyim Fund. The help of Yidden across the globe is severely needed.

  1. Thank you to Mr. Carr for his sensitivity
We here in the Jewish community acknowledge his act of fairness and sensitivity

  2. Buruch Hashem some light in the middle of this dark gulus but lets make no mistake he still has a very heavy sentencing hanging over his head and this entire episode bears with it alot of anti semitisim in our goldini medina so lets carry on davening for the tsadik reb shuloim mordechai like the yiden in shushan did and had a full salvation

  3. We should all send thank you letters to the judge and maybe we will awaken in Mr. Carr a good feeling and we will see the real yetzias mitzraim

  4. Why is it good to be released from Solitary Confinement? I would think it would be better to be left alone in a quiet place without contact. He could relax and be in a private place with more safety, especially on Shabbos.

  5. To # 14

He is better off not if solitary confinement as he was unable to call out for more than 45 minutes in Solitary confinement and now he can call for many hours during the day. Secondly he was and is now in a room alone, that is the way it was most of the time.

Here’s the address to send letters to Mr. Carr.
