The Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) in Britain has been spying on journalists, according to new documents released by Edward Snowden.

Over 70,000 emails from major international media companies, including BBC, Reuters, the Guardian, the New York Times, Le Monde, the Sun, NBC ad the Washington Post, were sourced in a matter of 10 minutes in November of 2008 and shared among the agency’s intranet.

Evidence also shows placement of “investigative journalists” on threat lists alongside terrorists and hackers. In response, more than 100 editors have signed a letter to UK’s prime minister, David Cameron, in protests of the snooping. Read more at The Guardian.
