The British library is in the midst of a program to digitalize thousands of Hebrew manuscripts from between the 10th and 20th century CE originating in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and as far east as China.
So far, the project has digitalized 1,300 manuscripts as well as images of old Sefer Torah covers. A second digitalization phase which began in April 2016 is digitalizing 1,250 more manuscripts.
The collection includes old siddurim, machzorim including the Machzor Vitri, halacha and kabolah works, as well as scientific and medical treatises.
The library’s website is visited by ten million people a year.
