New York – A prominent lawyer who has been involved in some of New York City’s most controversial criminal cases said he would run for Brooklyn district attorney, a move that would expand the field running against Charles J. Hynes, a longtime incumbent whose hold on the office has weakened amid mounting criticism.
The lawyer, Kenneth P. Thompson, registered with the New York State Board of Elections last week and said in an interview that he intended to run for the office.
