New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said today that Brooklyn will vie to host the Democratic National Convention in 2016, with the Barclays Center as the anchor venue and other events spread across the city’s other four boroughs.
“The progressive spirit of New York City has never been stronger or more vibrant than it is today,” the mayor wrote in a letter presenting the bid. “We believe that this spirit can energize and captivate both the Democratic Party and the nation.” Read more at The New York Times.
