kollel-business-networkOver twenty frum communities across North America share the distinction of hosting a revolutionary daily learning program for professionals and businessmen to familiarize themselves with monetary halacha.

Launched in chodesh Elul by the Parnassah Network organization, the Business Kollel Network has already changed the landscape of the American communal scene. “It helps us unite the frum community’s parnassah related resources, both in ruchniyus and gashmiyus,” says Reb Duvi Honig, Parnassah Network’s founder and director.

The diversity and locations of the growing number of shuls and kollelim participating in Business Kollel Network testifies to its practicality and versatility. The program offers a two-year curriculum that covers key choshen mishpat related topics based upon a modest learning seder each day, which can be tailored to any schedule. The curriculum is highly organized with marei mekomos, shiurim and other resources, which rabbanim, roshei kollel, or even individual chavrusashafts, can easily follow.

Some of the most recognized choshen mishpat authorities in America are actively involved in Business Kollel Network and/or have contributed shiurim or other resources. They include Rav Zev Cohen, shlit”a, Rav Ari Marburger, shlit”a, Rav Yechiel Rothschild, shlit”a, Rav Eliezer Cohen shlit”a, Mayshorim, the Business Halacha Institute and Bais Havaad L’Inyonei Mishpat.

Business Kollel Network participants have completed the topic of baal talin (timely payment) and are delving into the halachos of shtaros (contracts) for the new zeman. Other topics to be covered in the future, b’ezras Hashem, include competition, tzedaka obligations, damages, ribbis and more. A comprehensive – though easy to use – website serves as an interactive forum for the network. It includes information about locations, curriculum and how to join, as well as downloadable shiurim, a smartphone app, and a forum to ask shailos to a Rav.

Most of all, it is the unmistakable siyatta dishmaya and fast growing popularity that is striking. “We are constantly contacted by people who we didn’t even know are part of the program,” Rabbi Honig relates.

  1. Perhaps someone can start a Shidduch Network to successfully find Shidduchim for the thousands of us, myself included, who have unfulfiiled lives without a partner.

    It is just a thought.

    Thank You
