Car Carrying Rav Moshe Shternbuch Stoned by Arabs

reb_moshe_shternbuch1Rock attacks by Arabs have escalated, and today, large rocks and other unidentified items were hurled at a vehicle carrying Rav Moshe Shternbuch, Rosh Av Beis Din of the Eidah Hachareidis, who traveled to Har Hazeisim to daven at the kever of his rebbetzin, who yahrtzeit is today, 22 Shevat.

In route to the kever , the barrage of rocks were thrown, seriously damaging the vehicle in which the Raavad, his son and grandchildren were traveling. The occupants of the vehicles emerged with nothing more than minor bruises, though at least two windows of the car were smashed.

This is the second time that Rav Shternbuch’s vehicle has been stoned.  About 20 months ago, on Chol Hamoed Pesach, Rav Shternbuch was traveling to Har Hatzofim to daven, when his vehicle was ambushed by local Arabs. At the time, Rav Shternbuch had paskened that all members of that three-car caravan should bentch gomel to thank Hakadosh Boruch Hu for the fact that they emerged from the attack unscathed.

Following today’s attack, Rav Shternbuch received a police escort to the kever.  According to one source, the driver had veered off course when the vehicle was met by the angry mob of Arabs.

Those who have attempted to visit Har Hazeisim recently are aware of the deplorable security conditions there, in addition to the incidences of vandalism at numerous kevorim.
