Carry-On Bag Shrinkage Put on Hold

luggage airportThe International Air Transport Association, which would have shrunk the standard size of carry-on bags to 21.5 inches by 13.5 inches by 7.5 inches with its “Cabin OK” initiative, has put the new policy on hold pending a “comprehensive reassessment in light of concerns expressed, primarily in North America.”

The organization said a “growing list of airlines” have expressed interest in the program, which is aimed at reducing friction between gate employees and passengers.

The IATA will “further engage program participants, the rest of our members, and other key stakeholders” before rolling out the program. Read more at IATA.org.
