camp-Sullivan County – Six summer camps and colonies have been awarded matching grants between $500 and $2500 from Sullivan Renaissance as part of the 2012 Seasonal Demonstration Grant Program. The grants are given to seasonal communities such as bungalow colonies, camps and second home developments to encourage projects that improve the appearance of their properties and serve as a demonstration to others.

“We’re excited by the commitment of these seasonal communities to improve and beautify their properties,” said Seasonal Program and Community Consultant Allen Frishman, who manages the Seasonal Demonstration Grant Program for Sullivan Renaissance. “It’s great to see the applicant’s reaction when I explain how we help share in the cost of a beautification project.  First timers are incredibly appreciative that someone wants to help them clean up their property. I truly believe this improves the relationship of the seasonal occupants and the local communities.”

The six projects receiving grants are:

  • American Theological will receive up to $2500 for half the costs associated with a sign replacement and removal of old fence and landscaping at its property on Route 42 in Kiamesha Lake.
  • Camp Kavunes Halev will be reimbursed for up to $2500 for half the costs associated with enclosing its dumpster and landscaping at the property on Ferndale Loomis Road in Liberty.
  • Camp Simcha was awarded up to $2500 for half the costs associated with replacing a fence near the entrance of its property on White Road in Glen Spey.
  • Green Acres Cottages, Inc. will receive up to $2500 for half the costs associated with painting the barn, installing a barn quilt mural and new signage at its property on Denman Road in Liberty.
  • Steve’s Camp at Horizon Farms has been granted up to $2200 for half the costs associated with sign replacement, landscaping and brush removal at its property on Old County Route 82B in Livingston Manor.
  • Wagon Wheel Campground & Cottages, Inc. will get up to $500 for half the costs associated with signage and landscaping at the property located at Wortzman Road in Fallsburg.
