Israeli forces have caught the Palestinian terrorist who carried out a hatchet attack early Friday morning against a security guard in Ma’ale Adumim.
Matzav.com first reported on the attack against 48-year-old Tvika Cohen, who was hit with an ax in the upper body and suffered serious wounds, and was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Yerushalayim, unconscious and in critical condition. He was placed on a respirator and underwent surgery. He is still in severe condition.
A knife and an ax were found at the scene of the attack in the vestibule of a local mall.
The terrorist got away but was finally caught overnight in a joint operation between Israel Police and the IDF. He was identified as 21-year-old Saadi Ali Abu Ahmad of the al-Eizariya village, located next to Ma’ale Adumim.
Abu Ahmad admitted to the attack once he was apprehended.
Security forces shut down the town of Maale Adumim to Palestinian workers, a ban that will likely be enforced until later in the week.
