chacham-ovadiah-yosefChacham Ovadiah Yosef is suffering from an infection, according to sources at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Yerushalayim. Before Chacham Ovadiah underwent his recent treatment, he had contracted an infection that was treated with antibiotics. Due to the return of the infection, an antibiotic regimen has resumed.

The troubling news follows several days of encouragement signs regarding Chacham Ovadiah’s condition. In fact, the medical staff at the hospital decided yesterday to remove the breathing tube that had been assisting the rav and to allow him to breathe on his own.

Chacham Ovadiah remains in serious, but stable, condition in the intensive care unit at the hospital.

Yesterday, on Erev Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan, many fasted and prayed for his refuah sheleimah. Former Chief Rabbi Rav Shlomo Amar called for a yom taanis as a zechus for Chacham Ovadiah.

Next Thursday, the wedding of Chacham Ovadiah’s granddaughter  is scheduled to take place at Binyanei Haumah. The kallah is a daughter of Rav Moshe Yosef. The chosson is a son of Rav Atias, rov in Petach Tikvah. The family is praying for a miracle allowing the saba, Chacham Ovadiah, to attend.

All of Klal Yisroel is asked to continue to pray for the recovery of Chacham Chaim Ovadiah Yosef ben Georgia.

  3. It seems to me that it isn’t such a wise choice to give the age of a gadol while he is still alive. On september 15, Matzav wrote an article on harav ovadia yosef, on september 22, it was first reported him being sick. Do you think this could be a case of ayin harah???
