Chacham Yosef Hamadani Cohen zt”l

The chief rabbi of Iran, Chacham Yosef Hamadani Cohen zt”l, was niftar over Shabbos.

Chacham Yosef had served as the chief Rabbi of the Iranian community since 1994. He led the minyan at the Yussef Abad shul in Teheran, officially known as the Sukkat Shalom shul.

While Jews have been living in Iran for 2700 years, there are just 8,500 to 35,000 Jews left in the country.
