bmg-smallMatzav.com has learned that the location for the massive gathering tomorrow in Lakewood, NJ, for Birchas Hachama has been slightly altered. The original location for the Beth Medrash Govoha gathering was on Forest Avenue between Seventh and Ninth Streets. However, because the sun is not completely visible from all spots in that vicinity early in the morning, the yeshiva and the organizers of the gathering have now placed the men’s gathering on Seventh Street between Forest Avenue and Lakewood Avenue – adjacent to the Willows, Bais Eliyahu and the main yeshiva building. The original location for women who wish to attend was on Forest Avenue between Sixth and Seventh Streets. Those women who attend will now congregate on Sixth Street, between Forest Avenue and the yeshiva parking lot, next to the Legion building and the Martin Klein dormitory building.

Those attending the Birchas Hachama gathering at Beth Medrash Govoha will be able to park in a number of lots that have been made available only between the hours of 6:30 and 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. Residents are asked to park as far away as possible to minimize congestion, as thousands of people are expected to attend one of the largest Birchas Hachama gatherings in the United States.

Security will be high, with arrangements having been made at a meeting last week attended by Lakewood Police Chief Rob Lawson, Police Commissioner and Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein, Deputy Police Chief Fred Capper, and others. Streets will be blocked off and barriers placed at various locations.

Shacharis minyanim at BMG, both at the main campus and at Bais Shalom, will get underway at 6 a.m. Netz Hachama in Lakewood will be at 6:29 a.m. After davening, those in BMG and those who davened elsewhere will make their way to the designated location. The Birchas Hachama will be recited at approximately 7:15.

  1. does anyone remember what lakewood did in 1981……was there such a media blitz

Those of us that remember Lakewood circa 1981, remember a town that had perhaps five shuls aside from yeshiva, the yeshiva list (that’s what the pre Lakewood Directory phone book was called) was a page and a half long, and almost all boys in town attended the Cheder which I believe had just started parallel classes at that time.

Not quite the setting for a media blitz…

  2. For those living down the “9” there will also be a gathering for Birchas Hachama in the Chateau Grand parking lot at 7:15 am.

  3. At 7 am at the corner of Case and 14th Street there will be a gathering too. A number of shuls including Zichron Shneur (Rabbi Osher Chaim Lieberman) and Ner Dovid will be there
