Chevron Yeshiva Expands Campus to Meet Demand

Yerushalayim – Chevron Yeshiva Knesses Yisroel/Slobodka is expanding its magnificent campus in Givat Mordechai in response to an unprecedented demand for admission to the famed 135-year old yeshiva. This z’man, the Yeshiva admitted 200 bochurim of the approximately 1,000 that applied.  As in the past, the new bochurim were selected based on their ability to continue in the rich tradition of the Yeshiva to delve into the depths of learning and perhaps to emerge as one of the future Torah leaders of klal yisroel. More than 1,400 of the brightest young men from Eretz Yisroel and abroad study in the magnificent yeshiva campus.

To accommodate the many bochurim who wish to learn in the Chevron Yeshiva, a capital campaign was launched to construct 32 modern dormitory rooms on the 5^th floor of the magnificent Yeshiva building. An additional 32 rooms are in the process of being built on the 6^th floor. In addition, the Yeshiva expanded its huge dining hall. The Yeshiva prides itself with a modern and well maintained campus that is praised by the student body and visitors to the Givat Mordechai home of the Yeshiva.

Harav Yosef Chevroni, Rosh Yeshiva of the Chevron Yeshiva explained that the decision to expand was not taken lightly as “the yeshiva has always sought to limit admission to the most serious students, but of late the number of such applicants has dramatically increased.” He added: “It is encouraging to see so many bochurim who are looking for the ‘Slobodka derech’ of intense learning.”

The Chevron Yeshiva is known for having produced many of the leading Gedolei Yisroel in Eretz Yisroel and America. The Yeshiva recently marked the 50^th yahrzeit of the venerable sage Harav Aaron Kotler, the founding Rosh Yeshiva of Bais Medrash Govoha who studied in Slobodka. His son Harav Shneur studied in the Chevron Yeshiva.
