A New Jersey judge said today that there was probable cause for prosecutors to look into Governor Chris Christie for official misconduct in office related to his role in the George Washington Bridge lane-closure scandal. The judge will now hand the case to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, where officials will determine from there if the case will lead to an indictment. Christie’s office said it will appeal the ruling immediately.

“This is a dishonorable complaint filed by a known serial complainant and political activist with a history of abusing the judicial system,” Christie’s office said in a statement. “The simple fact is the governor had no knowledge of the lane realignments either before they happened or while they were happening. This matter has already been thoroughly investigated by three separate independent investigations.” Read more at NBC NEW YORK.
