When CNN posted a story that many interpreted as blackmailing an Internet troll, the hashtag #CNNBlackmail became trending, with commentators taking to various social media outlets to either call out or defend the media giant.

Some social media users, though, took things a step further, calling for a very personal form of revenge against CNN, and Kaczynski specifically. A link to a pastebin page that appeared to contain the personal identifying information of Kaczynski, some of his family members and his colleagues circulated on 4chan Wednesday morning.

The neo-Nazi Daily Stormer website called for even more. A popular post called for CNN employees to quit their jobs and denounce the network, or face consequences if they didn’t:

“We are going to track down your parents. We are going to track down your siblings. We are going to track down your spouses. We are going to track down your children. Because hey, that’s what you guys get to do, right? We’re going to see how you like it when our reporters are hunting down your children.”

  1. This whole story doesn’t make any sense. Can someone explain what actually happened in 2 sentences or less?

  2. Blackmailing is illegal in the US and can be fined or imprisoned – but not the liberal media. They can do whatever they want; chopping the president’s head off, supporting plays killing the president and inciting the public to bring the president down.
