mcclintockThe 19th and 20th members of Congress have written to Attorney General Eric Holder asking for an investigation into the Rubashkin case.

The latest letters come from Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, who represents Crown Heights,

and Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA). McClintock’s letter is the 6th from a Republican.

Clarke says that the sentencing of Sholom Mordechai was disproportionate. “While our system is one of the best, unfortunately it does not always get it right. I have opposed mandatory minimums throughout my public life as they often times result in sentences that don’t fit the crime,” wrote Clarke.

Clarke notes in her letter that Tyco investment executives Dennis Kozlowski and Mark Swartz were sentenced to 8-1/3 to 25 years for their scheme involving hundreds of millions, while Enron chief Jeffrey Skilling, in a scandal that led to the collapse of a $63 billion company, was sentenced to 24 years. WorldCom communications CEO Bernie Ebbers received 25 years for a fraud involving $11 billion, Clarke wrote.

“The fact that Mr. Rubashkin received a more severe sentence than any of those mentioned is troublesome and inconsistent with having the punishment fit the crime. Therefore, on behalf of my constituents who have come to me seeking justice in this case, I am requesting that you launch a formal inquiry into the sentencing phase of this case,” wrote Clarke.

  1. that judge linda whatever her name i is an anti semite and needs to be thrown off that case. she is the one who needs to be investigated – she is probably one of those activist communist judges feeling her oats now that obama is president.

  2. If the opposite of pro is con, what is the opposite of progress? Why is she only asking for an investigation into the sentencing phase? Does she agree with how the judge withheld evidence during the trial, and the obvious conflict of interest? A half hearted request, at best.
