Motorists are advised that construction work on the Palisades Interstate Parkway has shifted from the southbound Parkway to the northbound Parkway beginning, Monday, June 19.

All lanes on the northbound side of the Palisades Interstate Parkway, between Exit 15 (Old Gate Hill Road) and Exit 18 (US Route 6), are expected to be closed weeknights (Monday through Thursday) from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Monday, June 19, until approximately Thursday, August 10, while crews perform construction activities, weather permitting. Single lane closures on this portion of the Parkway are expected to occur at 8 p.m. prior to the full closure, and may also occur between 6 a.m. and noon on weekdays.

Motorists should follow the signed detour during the closure, and anticipate delays.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license. Read more here.

  1. i feel at home looking at this picture. The traffic is like UK, driving on the left side of road, surely not on the Palisades!

    • Incorrect. The picture they’ve posted is NOT the Palisades! The Palisades has only 2 lanes going in each direction, NOT 3!

  2. This is the section of the Palisades that goes thru Bear Mountain State Park.
For comparison, New Hempstead Road is exit 11 and the Thruway is exit 9.
