michel-yehudah-lefkowitz-11Yidden around the globe continue to daven for Rav Michel Yehudah Lefkowitz, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Ponovezh L’tzeirim and one of the senior gedolei Torah in Eretz Yisroel, who collapsed shortly before the conclusion of Shabbos and was taken to Shaare Tzedek Medical Center in critical condition.

The 97-year-old rosh yeshiva was stabilized somewhat yesterday, but not before a number of serious moments during which doctors fought valiantly to control Rav Lefkowitz’s condition.

We are told that the improvement is very slight and he is still in need of a tremendous yeshuah. All should continue davening for Rav Michel Yehudah ben Chaya.

A letter from gedolim was released yesterday in Eretz Yisroel asking the public to continue davening as a zechus for the “avi hayeshivos bedoreinu – our generation’s father of the yeshivos.” The signatories included Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, the Belzer Rebe, Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman, Rav Chaim Kanievsky, Rav Nissim Karelitz, Rav Gershon Edelstein and others.

Among those who visited the hospital was Rav Chaim Shlomo Leibowitz, rosh yeshiva at Yeshivas Ponovezh in Bnei Brak, who just got up from shivah following the sudden petirah of his son, Rav Chizkiyahu Yosef Leibowitz zt”l.

May we only hear besurot tovot.
