Council Member Deutsch and FJCC Meets with Officials

In attendance from the NYC Department of Sanitation was Brooklyn South Assistant Chief Damiano Cassiano, Deputy Chief Andrew Pugliese, Deputy Chief Christopher Hancock, Director Henry Ehrhardt, Superintendent Vincent Palazzolla, Superintendent Rosario Morrone, and Superintendent Joe Lupo from the Department of Sanitation; and representing the community was Councilman Chaim Deutsch, Josh Mehlman, Chairman of the FJCC, and David Heskiel, Sephardic Community Liason.

Department of Sanitation will be conducting additional garbage collection in preparation for Pesach on Thursday, April 10th and Monday, April 14th, in areas of Community Board 13, Community Board 14 and Community Board 15.

“I appreciate the efforts of the Department of Sanitation to accommodate the community during this important holiday,” Councilman Deutsch said.

Regular trash and recycling should be placed out in plastic bags by midnight on Sunday, April 13th. Bulk items and all left over chometz can be put out for collection on erev yom tov, the morning of Monday, April 14th. There will also be special containers throughout the district for residents to place their biur chomets remnants until 5pm on Monday, April 14th, at Quentin Road and Bedford Avenue, Nostrand Avenue between Avenue L and Avenue M, Nostrand Avenue between Kings Highway and Avenue P, and Avenue P and East 33rd St.

Councilman Chaim Deutsch expressed thanks to Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein and Rabbi Edgar Gluck and others who have worked on setting this up over the years. The Councilman will be monitoring sanitation pickups in preparation for Passover. Residents with concerns are urged to call his district office at 718-368-9176.
