Get a free bike helmet, courtesy of Councilman Kalman Yeger, this Sunday, May 6th, from 12-3:30 p.m., at Gravesend Park, located at 18th Avenue and 56th Street.

Helmets distributed at the event, which is sponsored by Councilman Yeger in conjunction with New York City’s Department of Transportation and Parks Department, will be individually selected and customized.

“Anyone who shows up can get a bike helmet, but they need to show up in person,” said Councilman Yeger.  “That’s because the helmet will be customized for the rider’s use, by trained DOT officials.”

Gravesend Park was recently renovated and is one of the newest parks in our community.  “I hope our neighbors take the opportunity to use our great park,” said Councilman Yeger.  “I’m grateful to former Councilman David Greenfield and Mayor Bill de Blasio for making the funds available in the city budget for this wonderful event.”

The event is open to everyone, children and adults alike.  However, children will need a parent or legal guardian to sign a form in order to participate. Helmets are distributed on a first-come first-served basis.

“These helmets will go fast,” said Councilman Yeger. “Sunday’s helmet distribution is a great way to kick off the summer.  I urge my neighbors to come early, enjoy our great park, get your helmet and let’s get the summer started!”

  1. It had been a while soon as he got elected and do anything for the community so giving out free helmets the community doesn’t need that we elected you to serve every community as you promised affordable housing and stuff put the helmets aside and do something that the community elected you to do thanks

    • ………………..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Here are a few extra punctuation marks that we had lying around. Please feel free to use them.

  2. One “attracts more ‘be’s’ [sic] with honey than with vinegar.” Try the same message this way – Great start in getting the community their needs. Perhaps with every helmet given out make one more house for a family affordable, as a start in fulfilling your campaign mandate.

    • Because, based on some of the comments posted, It’s clear they’ve been playing without a helmet for quite some time. You get my draft?

  3. I actually could have used free helmets for my children. I hoped my x would take them there to get the helmets. Unfortunately, he didn’t. I didn’t take them either. It didn’t work out. Oh well, maybe next time.
