Gov. Andrew Cuomo is bracing New York for the first potential natural emergency of his administration by opening the State Emergency Operations Center.
The state Office of Emergency Management has activated the state’s comprehensive emergency management plan to coordinate plows and other resources as a coastal storm moves into the state.
The order is mobilizing state agencies and authorities including the state Division of Military and Naval Affairs, which can provide troops and heavy equipment for snow removal and any rescue efforts.
The Senate and Assembly and the State University of New York Board of Trustees were among the many public entities that planned to end their business early today in preparation for the storm forecast start overnight.
