Daf Yomi Begins Maseches Sanhedrin Today

The learners of Daf Yomi are making their way ever closer to the next Siyum Hashas, which will take place, iy”H, on August 2, 2012, just a few days after Tisha B’Av.

ith 2,711 pages in the Gemara, one cycle of Daf Yomi takes about 7 years, 5 months. Daf Yomi started its current, 12th cycle on March 2, 2005.

  1. Contrary to haredi mythology, Bava Basra is
    not the longest tractate. That distinction
    actually belongs to Tractate Berachos.

    Bava Basra appears to be the longest because of Rashba’s commentary.

    But in terms of actual verbiage, Berachos
    comes in first place.
