New York City playgrounds will soon be required to post signs warning parents that equipment can get dangerously hot in the sun. The City Council approved a bill this week that orders the Parks Department to install precautionary signs at all of its playgrounds.Children have suffered minor injuries from hot equipment, mostly black rubber mats.
A spokesman for Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would sign the bill. The mayor dismissed complaints about the problem last summer, saying “If it’s hot, don’t sit on it.”
