mount-everest[Video below.] A daredevil Russian has vaulted off Mt Everest at 23,680 feet above sea level – breaking the world record for the highest ever base jump.

Valery Rozov, 48, leapt off the northern side of the mountain wearing a wingsuit earlier this month, cruising through the cold air like an eagle.

Vision of the dangerous stunt was today released by Red Bull, 60 years to the day after mountaineer Edmund Hilary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay became the first humans to reach the mountain’s summit (29,000 feet).

“Only when I got back home did I see how hard it was for me both physically and psychologically,” Mr Rozov said.

No one has ever BASE jumped off the mountain. It’s the latest extreme stunt sponsored by Red Bull – known for their ‘gives you wings’ slogan – to make world headlines.
