david-storobinThe latest turn in the special election to replace Carl Kruger in the State Senate has given the Republican candidate, David Storobin, a gigantic lead of one vote over his Democratic opponent Lew Fidler, multiple tipsters told The Politicker.

Contrary to what both of the campaigns had reported, the final result last night was actually a tie, a symbolic number in what has been a grueling race.

And, with all of the invalid absentee and provisional ballots finished being reviewed and contested today, Mr. Storobin’s lead has hopped up to that single point.
These tiny shifts in the margin are relatively inconsequential, however, due to the hundreds of contested absentee and provisional ballots that were simply set aside when one of the two campaigns objected to them. These votes will now remain uncounted for three days to allow time for a court order should one of the campaigns seek legal action, so Mr. Storobin’s tiny lead could hold through the weekend.

If there’s no court order, the contested ballots will then be tallied up at the Board of Elections. And then, if the margin either of the candidates is leading by is less than 0.5%of the 20,000 total votes cast (around 110 in this election), there will be an automatic hand recount of every ballot.

  1. If the corrupt BOE can’t get their act together, do we at least save on paying the salary for that welfare seat in the NYS Senate? I hope there won’t be any back pay! Why take tax dollars for a job not being done. I don’t trust corrupt Albany!

  2. Back in the 2000 when the presidential elections, it all came down to a few votes in Florida, Rav Chaim Stein ZT”L made a great point. He called it a reminder to a directive the Gemara gives us. The Gemara (end of first perek in Kedushin), says a person shall always view himself and the world as half “chayav” and half “zacai”; any action he takes will be the determining factor. If he does a Mizvah, he brought himself and the whole world “l’kaf zechus”. If he sins, then he has brought himself and the whole world “l’kaf chov”.

This election, right in Frum neighborhoods – which has come down to ONE vote, really brings this message home. Any one voter can see how his vote/action was the deciding factor

  3. If Fidler gets the seat, will we now have a special election just to fill his council seat? Oy, my head is spinning with all these “special” elections because of “special” elections on the count of a “special” election! Why can’t we just abolish these usefull idiots! Albany does what it wants regardless of what the hard working tax paying citizens says anyway! Throw them all out!
