In their bid to take back the U.S. House of Representatives next year, Democrats are committed to supporting and funding the campaigns of congressional candidates who oppose abortion rights, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said in an interview.
Speaking with The Hill, DCCC leader Rep. Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico insisted that the party must be willing to support candidates who do not share most Democrats’ views on the issue.
“There is not a litmus test for Democratic candidates,” Luján told The Hill. “As we look at candidates across the country, you need to make sure you have candidates that fit the district, that can win in these districts across America.” Read more at Salon.
