Developer Lamm Scores Victory in Annexation of Mamakating Land Onto Bloomingburg

After years of local infighting, lawsuits and accusations of discrimination, developer Shalom Lamm has scored a final victory in his bid to expand the village of Bloomberg in the Catskills region, JP Updates reports.

In April, an appellate court voided a previous ruling that the annexation of Town of Mamakating land for a 396-home Chassidishe development in the village of Bloomingburg is illegal. “We conclude that the challenge to the annexation – commenced over seven years after it was completed – is barred by the statute of limitations,” the judges wrote.

Opponents of the development, The RCC and the Town of Mamakating, appealed to the appellate division of New York State Supreme Court.

But their appeal to reverse the annexation of land onto Bloomingburg was ordered denied by the Supreme Court of Appeal on Thursday.
