The Department of Homeland Security has banned electronic devices larger than a cellphone in airplane cabins on nonstop flights into the U.S. from 13 countries including Saudi Arabia and Jordan, The Guardian reported on Monday. In an emailed circulated by the Transportation Security Administration, airlines based in 13 Middle Eastern and African countries were reportedly instructed not to allow laptops, iPads, Kindles, or cameras into the cabin.

While the State Department declined to comment on the policy, officials told CNN that embassy officials for the affected countries have been notified. On Monday, Royal Jordanian Airlines tweeted that, “following instructions from the concerned US departments,” passengers would not be allowed to carry large electronics onto their flights into the U.S. Read more at THE GUARDIAN.
