Whether you like Donald Trump or not, you’ve got to give him props for the following act of kindness performed 27 years ago, before he was a presidential frontrunner.

Trump might be opinionated and speak brashly, but he’s a baal chesed. At least he was in the ’80s.

As the New Hampshire primaries are being held, Donald is being recognized for his heroic act in July of 1988.

Conservative Post reports that at the time, the private Boeing 727 of the real estate tycoon traveled from Los Angeles at LaGuardia Airport this morning, carrying aboard a frum child with a rare breathing illness.

The child, Andrew Ten, a three-year-old, traveled with his parents and three nurses who attended to him around the clock to try to seek medical help in the New York area.

Trump made his plane available for the special trip to New York after the boy’s parents, Judy and Harold Ten, called Trump and told him of their plight, Conservative Post says.

Commercial airlines refused to fly the child because he could not travel without an elaborate life-support system, which included a portable oxygen tank, a suction machine, a breathing bag and an adrenaline syringe.

“Mr. Trump did not hesitate when we called him up. He said ‘yes, I’ll send my plane out,’” 29-year-old Harold Ten recalled shortly after he landed back in 1988.

Ten, when asked why he thought Trump made his private jet available, said simply, “Because he is a good man. He has three children of his own and he knows what being a parent is all about.”

Unfortunately, Andrew was niftar later on, but Trumps kindness is remembered to this day.

Now, almost 3 decades later, may The Donald keep spreading his spirit of chesed all around.

  1. Andrew “Ten” does not sound like a “Frum” name. Are you sure this is not some made up bubbu maaseh in order to make Trump sound like a tzaddik and garner the Jewish votes? Yeh, “they” say that Trump also paid off someones mortgage after he helped him with his flat tire. Of course that claim was never substantiated.

  2. I believe that a famous Jewish singer is married to someone with the maiden name “Ten.” “With all due Respect” – There are other Jewish names other than Friedman and Schwartz…..and the name is NOT what makes you Jewish

  3. This is a very frum family, from my community, “Andrew” was nifter many years ago and in his memory there are all kinds of chassadim done for the sick. We all know the family by their “Jewish” names and they are wonderful people.
If you were wondering if I know what frum is, I’m Chassidish from Williamsburg

  4. To “With all due respect”;

This yungerman happens to be a big bal chesed, and I have spent time in LA, he was there for me, since I was a stranger on the scene, as for the story about his kid, I was there went this happened, the whole community, was saying tehillim that all should go well. And one more item for you jew hater, you really a sick person, only when mashiach will come you will be healed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Story is very true. The boy’s father is my cousin and they are regular frum. The story is just using their English names. Unfortunately, the child did not survive but that does not take away from what Trump did for this frum family.

  6. I live in Los Angeles and remember the story. Yes it’s a very frum family. Father is a talmid of Harav Tuvia Goldstien Zatzal. I assume he doesn’t want his first name he goes by used for privacy reasons.

  7. OMG, Comment #1, how horrible of you. The Tens are frum, orthodox, baalei chessed and tzedaka. Pillars of the community.

R’ Ten is the head of the bikkur cholim named in honor of his two children that died at very young ages. How insensitive can you be?!

When he came to visit on his bikkur cholim rounds, he told us this story HIMSELF. He described the agony he and his wife were in as they tried to seek treatment for their severely ill child, A”H. R’ Ten used an ingenious way to get to Trump himself – it wasn’t easy. And Trump is a good guy.

  8. to ‘With all due Respect:’ I know Heshy Ten, his wife and family. he is Frum, a pillar in the community, and his son is a founding member of Los Angeles’s hatzoloh as well as bikur cholim.
