bnei-brakBnei Brak – Hundreds of residents and volunteers breathed a sigh of relief after a boy who went missing last night was found Shabbos afternoon at the border of Bnei Brak and Ramat Gan.

The boy of 14 and his family had come from Ashdod to spend Shabbos in Bnei Brak. On Friday night, after davening, family members were heading from a shul near Gan Varsha on Rechov Rabi Akiva towards the home of their host on Rechov Kehillas Yaakov, when one family member, a 14-year-old boy, told his father that he wished to walked ahead and would meet them at the home of their host.

When the family reached the house, they discovered that the boy had not yet come home. They waited until after the seudah and then went out to look for him. After a few hours had passed, they contacted the Hatzolah of Gush Dan, who were joined by Shomrim volunteers in looking for the boy.

On Shabbos, when the boy had still not been found, the family contacted Ichud Hatzolah, which set up a command room. Over 700 volunteers spread out, dividing up into groups to scour the city of Bnei Brak, including the outlying neighborhoods.

18 hours after the boy had gone missing, he was found at the border of Bnei Brak and Ramat Gan, healthy, but very tired.

Ushi Shlomovitz of the Hatzolah of Gush Dan was one of the heads of the effort to find the boy. After hours of searching in vain, he went to Rav Shmuel Halevi Wosner, who said that ram kolim (announcements on speakers) should be sent around throughout the city announcing that a boy is missing.

The boy was found a few hours later by a group of Gerer bochurim sent by the central command post..
