Egypt’s Ex-President Morsi Gets Three Years for ‘Insulting Judiciary’

Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi was sentenced today to three years in prison on charges of insulting the judiciary. A Cairo criminal court handed down the sentence against Morsi and 19 others, all of whom were accused of inciting or expressing hatred of the courts in public statements.
The former leader was also hit with a $112,700 fine. Morsi, who was overthrown in 2013 amid mass protests against his rule, is already serving out a 20-year sentence for inciting the killing of protesters and a 25-year sentence for espionage on behalf of Qatar. Read more.
