In a protest against the dismissals of workers at the airline and the compensation of its senior management, the El Al workers committee has sent senior managers food packages for the Yom Tov of Pesach containing staple items: oil, matzo meal, rice and sugar, with a sarcastic personal greeting.
The committee, which intends to boycott the traditional pre-festival toast that El Al is holding this morning for its employees, sent the packages to El Al CEO Elyezer Shkedy, chairman Amikam Cohen, his deputy Tami Mozes, VP Human Resources and Administration Reuven Virovknik, and CFO Nissim Malki.
The greeting with the packages reads: “Dear management members, the Passover holiday is a festival symbolizing freedom, brotherhood and solidarity. We’d like to wish you a happy holiday and to say ‘thank you’ that particularly on the eve of Passover you chose to fire 200 low-paid workers. Today (last Thursday, S.P.) the company’s financial statements were published, giving your salaries, and we have realized that unfortunately you do not earn enough, so we have prepared for you a package of basic products so that you should at least celebrate the holiday properly.”
