eric-holderAttorney General Eric Holder joined the Tom Joyner Morning Show today and was asked if he would consider taking a paycut echoing President Obama’s pledge to cut his own paycheck by 5% in solidarity with the sequester budget cuts.

Holder joked that he wasn’t sure if he was ready for that and said if paycuts happen in the Justice Department it is something he will consider doing.

TOM JOYNER: You’re going to take the salary cut?

ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER: I’m not sure I’m ready for that.  (Laughter)

TOM JOYNER: Like the President did?

ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER: I’ll say this, what the President did I think is right.  Given the fact that some federal employees may have to be furloughed, which means a paycut.  And if that happens in the Justice Department that is certainly something that I will consider.  But we’re working to try to make sure that our workforce does not have to be furloughed.

Time reports that Holder “intends to take a pay cut equivalent to the maximum amount any Justice Department employee has to take as a result of the sequestration.”

  1. Didn’t he specfically say that he would take a pay cut if Justice Department employees had to? I sometimes wonder if the people who post comments have ever actually read the article.
