edward snowdenThe European Union’s parliament voted Thursday to call on its member states to drop criminal charges against Edward Snowden and to protect him from extradition.

Approved by a close margin, 285-281, the EU resolution doesn’t change any existing laws or policies but acts as a resolution on the part of the governing body, asking member states to drop any charges against Snowden and “prevent extradition or rendition by third parties, in recognition of his status as a whistleblower and international human-rights defender.” Read more at CNN.
