The Israeli cabinet on Sunday approved the appointment of Meir Ben-Shabbat for the influential position of national security adviser, a post that has remained officially vacant since 2015.
During his position in the Shin Bet where he served from January 1989, Ben-Shabbat acquired expertise relating to Hamas and its role in the Gaza Strip and he personally led the security agency’s efforts throughout the 2008-2009 Operation Cast Lead campaign. Read more at i24NEWS.
