The FAA is set to announce regulations for commercial drones, some six years after drone industry advocates sought federal guidance.
The new rules will require drone operators to have pilot licenses and restrict flights to daylight hours, according to those familiar with the new specification. Commercial drone flights will also have to be under 400 feet and within sight of the control person.
Until now, the FAA has banned drones from commercial use. Drone supporters wanted government regulation to enable commercial usage, but the rules are more extensive than many advocates desired and they still do not address privacy concerns. Read more at MarketWatch.
