Facebook Bug Exposes Contact Info

facebookOops. On Friday, Facebook revealed they fixed a bug that had accidentally given out contact information for six million of its users. When using the social network’s DYI (download your information) tool, the email addresses and phone numbers of friends were being downloaded.

“We currently have no evidence that this bug has been exploited maliciously and we have not received complaints from users or seen anomalous behavior on the tool or site to suggest wrongdoing,” Facebook said in response to the bug, which was fixed within 24 hours, but had apparently been live since 2012. Read more at PC Mag.
