lakewood-policeA father and son from Howell have been charged with the armed robbery of a man delivering Chinese food under an apparently bogus order for an address on Ventura Drive in the growing frum neighborhood of Raintree. The victim tried to make the delivery about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, but could not find the person who placed the order, said Detective Sgt. William Rodriguez. As the delivery man was returning to his car, he was approached by a man armed with a gun, Rodriguez said. The armed man, later identified as Kevin Davis, 18, of Seattle Slew Drive in Howell, demanded the delivery man’s money and the food, Rodriguez said.

Police said the robber got into a car with other occupants and drove away. The victim provided police with a description of the robber and the car, the license plate number and the cell phone number of the person who ordered the food, authorities said.

Sgts. Steve Vigna and Peter Smoke located the car on Pine Street, police said. They said that inside were three people and a bag of Chinese food. The officers called the cell phone number provided by the delivery man and a phone rang inside the car, police said.

The officers questioned the driver, identified as Kevin’s father, Timothy Davis, 48, of the same Howell address. Timothy Davis told the officers that he was aware that his son had robbed the delivery man and that he had driven him to that location for that purpose, Rodriguez said.

The father and son were charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. They both remained in the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, on Friday. Timothy Davis’ bail was set at $200,000. His son was being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

The food was seized as evidence and photographed, Rodriguez said.

The robbery is being investigated by Detectives Daniel Tworkoski and Steven Wexler.

  1. Dear Anonymous: It’s Chief Lawson not Larson.

Who got to eat the food after it was photographed as evidence? I wonder what the fortune cookie said. Was it “Go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass “Go”. Do not collect $200.” Or, maybe it was a “get out of jail free” card.
Anyway, chalk up one for the LPD. Great job by the very on the ball delivery man too.
