FCC Struck Down on Net Neutrality

obamacare1Internet service providers were given the okay today to favor some types of Web traffic over others thanks to a court ruling by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.

The court struck down the Federal Communications Commission’s “net neutrality” rules that prohibited ISPs from blocking certain types of Web traffic.

The 81-page 2-1 ruling effectively negates years’ worth of the FCC’s work. Companies like Time Warner would be free to cut a deal with Netflix, for instance, to favor its traffic over Hulu’s. The case is likely to be appealed to the Supreme Court. Read more at GigaOm.
