A powdered alcohol called Palcohol has been approved for sale by the federal government. The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau had approved the product last year, but then took it back saying it had been approved in error.
According to the agency, issues with the product have now been resolved. Some states have banned the powdered alcohol, partially out of fear that people will snort it (instead of mixing it in drinks as suggested).
A bureau spokesperson said approval revolves around whether or not what is in the product matches the label, not whether or not the product can be abused. Read more.
