First Lady Melania Trump on Thursday made a surprise trip to Texas to visit detention facilities housing children separated from their families due to the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy.

The visit comes one day after President Trump signed an executive order intended to end the practice of separating families who illegally cross the U.S. southern border, which was widely condemned in the U.S. and abroad.

White House officials said the first lady urged the president to keep families together, which may have played a role in Trump’s decision to change his mind.

The visit comes after famed actor Peter Fonda tweeted a threatening message aimed at Melania, suggesting she should be separated from her 10-year-old son Barron as punishment for President Trump separating families at the border.

  1. Peter and Jane Fonda can go to gehenom. Both evil wicked selfish people who hate America but yet refuse to live anywhere else.
