FJCC Flatbush Coalition Congratulates Election Night Victors

fjccThe Flatbush Jewish Community Coalition, FJCC, has congratulated the winners of Tuesday’s election, that saw federal, state and local races take place. Deserving of special mention, the FJCC wishes to congratulate Assemblyman Dov Hikind for winning a resounding re-election for an astounding 17th time.

Josh Mehlman, Chairman of the FJCC remarked, “over the course of the lengthy election season, FJCC coalition members met with almost every local and Statewide candidate for office and will continue to build partnerships with our elected officials to benefit the greater Flatbush/Midwood communities.”

Winners on election night that interacted with FJCC coalition members were: Governor Andrew Cuomo and his running mate Lieutenant Governor-elect Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Comptroller Tom DeNapoli, Congressman Jerry Nadler, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, State Senator Simcha Felder, State Senator Marty Golden, State Senator-Elect Jesse Hamilton, Assemblyman Dov Hikind, Assemblyman Steve Cymbrowitz, Assemblyman Felix Ortiz, Assemblywoman-elect Rodneyse Bichotte, Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein, and Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny.

Both Chaskel Bennett FJCC co-founder and Leon Goldenberg, FJCC Executive member marveled that coalition members invested so much time and energy to meet, consult and educate nearly every candidate for office on the varying needs and issues of the jewish community. “It speaks to the commitment and unity of community members and we are proud and optimistic that the FJCC will continue to grow and serve as a model on how to build a cohesive coalition that responsibly represents the vital interests of our residents, businesses and institutions.” FJCC executive board member Shimon Lefkowitz thanked all those who came out to vote. “Your voice is being heard by the elected officials, by voting we will not be ignored.” Malcolm Hoenlein, FJCC Honorary Chairman, stated, “It is our obligation to hold politicians to account, the Jewish community wins, when we vote.”

The FJCC is a grassroots organization comprised of communal leaders and activists from a broad spectrum of area shuls, Yeshivas and organizations. It strives to unite and build political relationships for the benefit of the broader Flatbush/ Midwood Jewish community.
