A plan has been set into motion to have young men studying in yeshiva in Eretz Yisroel viewed as equal to the status of at to universities, so that they will be able to get official “student” status in their home countries, Arutz Sheva reports.

The undertaking is being led by Shas MK Aryeh Deri.

At present, yeshiva students are rendered tourists and need to settle their status in immigration and population offices in Israel. Yeshiva students will now be able to avoid this process, which is often time-consuming.

  1. Will they also get discounts on public transportation, like other students? And what about seminary girls?I hope this is included.

  2. I showed an Egged driver my US University student card but he just screamed loudly at me to pay full fare. I was attired in standard Yeshiva black and whites. So, will it help anyway?
