Former NYPD Comissioner Bernard Kerik Released From Prison

After spending three years behind bars, former NYPD Commissioner Bernard Kerik was released from prison today.

Kerik waved to reporters as he pulled into his cobblestone driveway at his home in Franklin Lakes, N.J. around 2 p.m., 1010 WINS’ Al Jones reported.

His wife, son, two daughters and his German Shepherd gave him a big welcome home on the front steps, Jones reported.

Kerik pleaded guilty in late 2009 to charges that included tax fraud, making a false statement on a loan application and lying to the White House while he was being vetted to lead the cabinet-level Department of Homeland Security in 2004. He began serving his four-year sentence in May 2010. He was released early from the federal prison in Cumberland, Md. after serving three years and 11 days. Kerik will have to spend several months confined to his home.
